Q2a – Access during construction – Barn Hotel special meeting questions

This is one of eleven questions posed to the prospective developer for the plans at the former Barn Hotel at our special public meeting on 23 October 2024.

Written answers

There are local concerns about increased traffic and blocked access during construction. What specific measures will the developer implement to manage access to the site (specifically the footpath/cycle route connecting Eversley Crescent to West End Road) and to, minimise disruptions to local traffic, and ensure the safety of pedestrians and residents throughout the construction period? How will construction-related traffic access the site?

All Construction traffic would enter and exit the site through the main access off West End Road roundabout.  A gateman will be present to direct traffic movements and ensure public safety.

The pedestrian route through Garden Close will be maintained during the Construction Phase.

In the event that consent is granted, the site will be subject to the requirement to adhere to a strict construction management plan which will be required to demonstrate that there will be no impact on highway or pedestrian safety and operations during construction.
