HS2 have had to extend the closure until Friday 17th August due to unforeseen problems. Sadly an indication of what is likely to happen in the future.
Breakspear Road South will be closed from 21 July until 11 August 2018. This is to move a major gas main in advance of HS2 main construction. We did try and get the closure delayed until later in the year when they expect to close the road again, but they refused to do that. Whilst the actual length of road being closed is quite short (south from the Chiltern Line bridge), the impact will be significant. Like the recent closure due to a water leak, all the traffic that uses that road will either have to use Harvil road of the High Road past West Ruislip station. I am afraid this is just a foretaste of things to come.
