RAGC meeting cancelled already – do not attend on Friday!

In a complete farce, the ‘Residents’ Meeting’ that was hastily arranged for Friday this week, London Borough of Hillingdon have backtracked and decided that the meeting isn’t open to residents at all.

After the Friends of the Rural Activities Garden Centre publicised the meeting that Hillingdon Council had written to them about, and residents’ associations across the borough promoted it to their residents… Hillingdon rescinded their invite and changed the meeting so that it was only open to “gardeneers”, not “residents” as they originally said.

Gardeneers, as they are known, are the people who actually receive horticultural therapy at RAGC.

Ruislip Residents’ Association had sight of Hillingdon’s letter: it was unambiguous.

Please do not turn up on Friday 27 February as apparently this invitation is now open only to Gardeneers rather than residents.

Does the Council understand RAGC?

This does not give us any confidence whatsoever that the Council has any idea what it is doing with RAGC.  It serves only to confirm that the Council wants to exclude the many thousands of residents who used RAGC from attending the meetings.

Putting Residents First

Hillingdon Council’s long-established tagline has been “Putting Residents First”.  When it can’t even define what a resident is from one day to the next, what chance does it have of achieving this simple-sounding aim?
