About Hillingdon Cleaner Greener Festival

The 2026 Hillingdon Cleaner Greener Festival is an event organised by volunteers living in the London Borough of Hillingdon. It will be in the High Street, Uxbridge, and with the generous support of St Margaret’s Church, the indoor stands will be in their beautiful medieval building in the heart of Uxbridge.

In January 2020, Hillingdon Council made a climate emergency declaration, recognising climate change as “one of the biggest challenges we face both in our community and worldwide”. The council has acknowledged that fighting climate change can also result in us making financial savings. Street lamps that use LEDs use a fraction of the power of conventional lights, meaning lower electricity bills.

Heat pumps can heat buildings as large as the Civic Centre without the harmful carbon emissions resulting from burning gas. Electric Vehicles reduce carbon emissions and air pollution, and lower our dependence on imported energy supplies. They can also save as much as £1,000 a year in energy costs for a household or business that has off-street parking.

Everyone is an important contributor in creating the change we urgently need. The difficulty is in knowing where to start and how it fits with your own personal circumstances. Not everyone has the resources or knowledge to make the necessary changes.

Hillingdon is blessed with many green spaces and natural habitats. We need to preserve these from threats including unnecessary airport expansion that could result in flights from Heathrow increasing from 480,000 a year to 720,000.

We’ve invited a number of businesses, local campaigners and speakers to come along to answer your questions on a variety of environmental topics. We’ll also be holding a series of children’s games and activities to ensure there is something of interest for everyone.

Please join us on Saturday 19th of September, we look forward to meeting you!
