N118 nightbus from Trafalgar Square to serve Ruislip and Ruislip Manor from January

TfL have announced the results of their consultation about extending the N118 nightbus to cover Ruislip Manor and Ruislip station, and plan to begin running it as soon as January.

It’s great to see that we’re finally getting a night bus service with the new N118. Having a direct link from Trafalgar Square all the way to Ruislip Station is going to be a game-changer. It’ll run seven nights a week, coming every 15 minutes at weekends, and every half an hour overnight during the week – which is fantastic for anyone working late or coming home from a night out in town. The consultation showed that the majority of local participants were behind the idea , as it gives us a much-needed, safer way to get home without the expense of a taxi.

With the N118 coming, the decision to permanently cancel the short-lived and weekend-only night service on the 114 isn’t really a loss. The night service on the 114 route hasn’t even been running since March 2020, and even before the pandemic, it was barely used.

TfL report that a lot of people who responded to the survey said they never used it and that scrapping it would have no impact on them at all. It makes sense to use those resources on a service we’ll actually use.

The N118 bus service will give us better connections and a more frequent, reliable service that runs every night, not just on weekends. It’s a much better deal for Ruislip all around.
