West London Institute of Technology’s First Virtual Open Day

WLCoT Building

Following the launch of its new website, the West London Institute of Technology (WLIoT) has announced that Wednesday December 2nd from 5pm – 6pm will be its first Virtual Open Day.

WLIoT is one of just 12 Institutes of Technology licensed by the UK Government to provide employer-led education and training at Levels 4 and 5 (equivalent to up to the first two years of an undergraduate degree). It offers courses  in Digital, Engineering and Construction subjects.

The Virtual Open Day is set to include: Presentations from Dr Darrell DeSouza, presentations from Heads of relevant departments and walk/fly through of the new WLCoT building.

WLCoT, which was launched in September 2019, is led by the merged college group HCUC in collaboration with anchor partners Brunel University London, Fujitsu, Heathrow and London Business. Classes are currently moving into its remodelled workshop and learning space on Uxbridge College’s Park Road site in Uxbridge, with courses also being run in professional skills workshops and classrooms on the site, as well as at Uxbridge College’s Hayes Campus in Coldharbour Lane and at Harrow College.

Dr Darrell DeSouza, Principal and CEO of HCUC, said: It is a landmark in the progress of WLCoT that we have been able to announce our first Virtual Open Day. Even though we are, unfortunately, unable to invite prospective students and employers on site due to the Covid situation, we hope this event will give our virtual visitors a flavour of our fantastic new accommodation, as well as the high quality teaching and learning opportunities on offer through WLCoT.

Institutes of Technology are aimed at tackling the skill gaps within the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) sector, and boosting opportunities for students, trainees and apprentices to achieve the higher technical qualifications and industry skills demanded by employers.
