Shopfront reinstatement at 111 High Street, Ruislip

We have been tracking the shopfront at 111 High Street (now Hungry Olive).

A Planning Enforcement ENF/308/22 was originated in 2022. The Enforcement notice was served to remove the insertion of the slit windows, but rather than carry out the works, the enforcement was appealed.

The Planning Inspectorate dismissed the appeal on 10th April this year.

Today’s works have been three years in the waiting, to reinstate the original style shop front as per that original enforcement case.

111 High Street used to be the Busbys carpet shop, then spent time as a Craft Stores shop, the Jurassic soft play cafe – all of which had a glass front as shown below (image from Google Streetview).

We believe that the slit windows were installed for the “Soul Bar” restaurant before Hungry Olive, so perhaps the delay in enforcement action being taken has been partially down to the change in businesses.

39-41 High Street

A similar Enforcement notice ENF/551/23 was served at 39-41 High Street (ex Tan & Beauty – now Glow up). That was also appealed and that was dismissed on 10th April too. We await their shop front change to be implemented.
