As a member of the Hillingdon Alliance of Residents’ Associations (HARA), the Ruislip Residents’ Association (RRA) is encouraging all our members to participate in a vital borough-wide event: Hillingdon Decides. It is a Zoom webinar for the whole borough to ask questions of the parties seeking our votes on 7th May.
On Tuesday, 21st April 2026, HARA will host a live digital leadership hustings. This is your opportunity to hear directly from the parties seeking to lead Hillingdon Council for the next four years.
Register (free) and submit your questionWhy This Event Matters
The timing of this hustings is set for Tuesday 21st April because postal votes are being dispatched and residents voting by post will receive their packs beginning the following day.
Now is the most effective time to scrutinize the borough-wide visions and policy commitments of those asking for your vote before you vote by post or head to the polling station on 7th May.
Residents’ Associations like Ruislip Residents’ Association are established to be strictly apolitical and non-partisan – a principle enshrined in our constitutions. Our role is to ensure that residents have a neutral platform to hear from all candidates on the issues that matter most: from borough budgets and finances to planning and local services.
How to attend
The hustings event is entirely online, hosted as a secure Zoom webinar. Registration is mandatory and Zoom links will be sent by email 24 hours, and again an hour before the event start time of 7pm on Tuesday 21st April. The Zoom links cannot be shared, and can be used on only one device – so please ask your family, friends and neighbours to register for themselves, don’t share your own joining link.
Registration is quick, easy, and free. You’ll be able to submit your own question while registering, and HARA will be compiling all of the questions together to form a series of themes for the questions in the first half. Questions in the second half will be chosen from those submitted on the night and ‘upvoted’ by participants during the event itself.
HARA issued invitations to all parties contesting at least one-third of the borough’s seats. We can confirm the attendance of leadership representatives from:
The Hillingdon Conservatives were invited but declined to participate.
While it is disappointing that the current administration (and the party to which all five of Ruislip and Ruislip Manor’s councillors belong) will not be represented on the panel to answer questions alongside the other parties, the event will proceed as planned to ensure residents can compare the remaining platforms.
Our Speakers
We will be joined by Sarah Green (and one other TBC) from the Green Party, by Stuart Mathers and Sital Punja from the Labour Party (the Leader and Deputy Leader of the Hillingdon Labour group), by Jonathan Banks & Max Peston from the Liberal Democrats, and by Andrew Retter & Teji Barnes from Reform UK.
Between them, they have stood for many elections in the past, Stuart and Sital are both current Labour councillors, while Andrew and Teji have been Conservative councillors in the past.
