High Speed Rail (HS2)

Phil Taylor

HS2 construction is gathering pace. As of May 2019 a lot of preparation work has already been undertaken; including ground investigations and the start of diverting two main gas mains at Harvil road.

There has been a further delay in the proposed start of the main construction activities, until the end of 2019. Based on the early works so far, we can expect enormous disruption in the area.

Many meetings are happening between HS2 Ltd and representatives of local residents, but HS2 are not very responsive to the feedback and concerns that are presented to them.

You can read the reports of our interactions with HS2 here.

We expect more news and details on public meetings later this year in the near future.

Electric and Magnetic Fields

Concerns were expressed about any issues from HS2 running high voltage cables under residential streets.  This is the reply received from HS2. Following concerns raised over Electric and Magnetic Fields (EMF) from 1979 onwards, an independent Stakeholder Advisory Group on Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) EMFs, “SAGE”, was formed in 2004. The group was made up […]
