Lady Bankes Infant School and Lady Bankes Junior School had separate Governing Bodies in the past but now has a Federated Governing Body of Lady Bankes Schools which is made up of parents, staff, the local authority and co-opted governors. They currently have a number of vacancies in the co-opted governor category and would welcome applications from people from the local community or those with experience in the following areas: Human Resources, Legal Services, Finance, Health and Safety, Previous Experience on a Governing Body, UnderstandingExperience in Education.
The Governing Body has certain expectations of all its members:
(i) To attend and contribute to six meetings of the full Governing Body each year
(ii) To join a committee in either an area of interest or expertise and attend their meetings
(iii) To monitor a specific curriculum area. This involves visiting the school and making observations which are reported back to the Full Governing Body.
(iv) To commit to attend training courses.
(v) To comply with the expectations set out in the Code of Conduct.
The Recruitment Process:
(i) The first stage is to complete an application form.
(ii) The next stage is the completion of a skills audit, to allow the Governing Body to understand your skill set.
(iii) The final stage is an interview with a Headteacher and Chair of Governors.
