Howletts Pharmacy in Ruislip is supporting the National Pharmacy Association’s Campaign to save pharmacies across the country including its own. Two petitions, signed by numerous local residents, have recently been sent to the local Member of Parliament, David Simmonds, who is very supportive. He visited the pharmacy in September and has written to the Health Secretary, Wes Streeting, stating that he hopes he will take action to quell the concerns of his constituents and set out how the Health Department will continue investing in these much-treasured services.
Speaking to many residents for whom Pritee Panchmatia’s pharmacy is their nearest, one will always hear the same comments:” It is a Godsend to have the pharmacy so close (Many locals are elderly and are not able to travel to the High Street); Everyone there is so welcoming and helpful and know me by name: I can always receive help and advice when unable to get a doctor’s appointment.” It is also great that we can get our Flu and Covid vaccinations there.” To confirm these comments on October 2nd. the pharmacy received recognition for their excellent patient care at the Pharmacy Business Awards.
Pritee and her dedicated team do incredible work to serve their local community and it would be devasting to so many people if she had to close in the future due to lack of Government funding. Currently she is expected to dispense at a loss, subsidising the NHS and does not anticipate that she will be able to remain open indefinitely if there is no further funding very soon.
Across the country there are over 10,500 pharmacies that provide primary services. Local pharmacies have always played a vital role in our healthcare system as they provide immediate access to medication and the public hope that will remain in the future.
Finally Ruislip residents would like to send their grateful thanks to Pritee and all who work at Howletts Pharmacy and wish them good luck for the future.
