Buses

Local bus services provide us with many transport links, but we continue to press for improvements in services to the south of Hillingdon This page will keep members updated on proposals for new routes

View Bus arrival times from your home computer, or whilst on the move via your smart phone!

TfL now provides the ability to check live travel times for buses, enabling you to have more control over how soon you need to reach the bus stop in order to catch the bus.  You can look for this information both on your home PC before you leave your house/workplace, or indeed, if you have portable internet access/a smartphone, you can check the website whilst you are out and about.  Here is the link.

If your initial search by road or bus route does not come up with anything, try typing in ‘Ruislip’, bringing up an interactive map which you can then use to zoom in to your chosen area to find the correct road/bus number that you wish to check for.

Boris Johnson recently unveiled the new design of routemaster bus, which should be running on some central London routes in 2012.
He said the buses were a combination of "nostalgia" and the "latest technology".

The fuel-efficient bus will be quieter than its diesel-run predecessor and it will have a platform at the back to allow·passengers the traditional hop-on hop-off service.·  It will have both a driver and a conductor, just as it used to.
Wrightbus is making the vehicle, and it was designed by Thomas Heatherwick.

There have been reported instances (both in Hillingdon and Central London as a whole) where disabled passengers have been denied access to a bus, leaving them stranded at the bus stop.    Sometimes this has been due to the ramp not working on a bus, but at other times it has apparently been caused by the bus driver being rude and unhelpful and refusing permission for the passenger to board.    We strongly encourage you to report any such instances, both to TfL and to the relevant bus company (if there is one), so that they can clearly monitor any such mechanical, or personnel, failures.
