Ensure your door is properly shut, Information regarding UPVC Door Burglaries, March 2008
The police have asked us to make residents aware that there have recently been to a number of burglaries where entry to the premises has been gained by forcing open plastic UPVC front doors, particularly overnight. The victim's have generally been completely unaware that simply lifting the handle on the inside does not fully lock the door. By leaving the door on the night latch, it's really easy to pop open from the outside with a screwdriver as you only need to force back the central lock and the whole thing opens.

Hillingdon Police Asset Management Consultation

Click here to download Hillingdon Police Asset Management Consultation

This details that consultation process being conducted in Hillingdon Borough regarding the closure of certain police stations, and the requirements for a more efficient police service.

The Association would appreciate you completing one and returning it by what ever method you chose from those listed. Hayes Police Station is already in the initial planning process of plans being drawn up for presentation to LBH. The plan is to  accommodate a purpose built custody suite of 40 cells and the response shift parade centre. It is also planned/intended for each Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) to have their own premises within their area. Debate as to whether this will include open access for members of the public i.e. counter service.

The consultation period is extended to 12 March 2008.

Make that Shed or Garage Secure
A major source of residential burglaries reported to Hillingdon Police are via sheds and garages. At most entry was gained from the rear of the property by suspect/s forcing a window or door. A number of houses were broken into using the householders own tools!

The suspect/s had found what they required in the householders garden shed. Burglars do not like to carry tools with them when they go out to commit crime as it is hard for them to explain their presence to police if stopped and can lead to them being arrested for the offence of "Going equipped to commit theft".

An insecure shed is inviting trouble.

bulletPlease ensure that your shed or garage is fitted with good locks, padlocks should be of the closed shackle variety.
bulletPlease ensure your shed/garage is locked when unattended.
bulletConsider fitting a shed alarm, a 137db deterrent. Available from Community office at Ruislip Police Station at a cost of £10 each (approx a third of what they retail for) we sell them on behalf of the Hillingdon Crime Prevention Panel. If you would like one then please let me know, telephone number 020 8246 1869. PC Gareth Summers.
