How to Help

Volunteers Required : The committee is constantly on the look out for new members to broaden our view point, we would especially like someone to represent Youth Issues and Environment. See committee member for more details.

What could I do ?
There are many ways in which you can become more involved in the Association's work. Possible roles are :

bulletRoad Steward
bulletArea Steward
bulletCommittee Member

How much time will it take up ?
The level of involvement that you choose is entirely up to you. It is undoubtedly true that some of our committee members dedicate an enormous amount of time to the Association, for example our Chairman. But there are other members who spend only a few hours every few months, whose contribution is highly valued.

What these Roles Involve

Road Steward
The network of Road Stewards form the backbone of the organisation, without them there would be no Association. They perform three functions :

distribution of the Town Crier (3 times per year)
collection of subscriptions (annually)
feedback of any concerns to the committee

As a road steward you will be allocated a small area of responsibility, usually a road or part of a road with about 30-40 houses. Preferably this would be the road in which you live, or one close by. Many Road Stewards find it a good way of getting to know their neighbours.

If this role appeals to you then please get in touch with our Chief Road Steward Brian Cowley, who will be delighted to hear from you. See Feedback.

Roads where there are presently no stewards :
Deborah Crescent & Vicarage Close, Church Avenue, Manor Way, Pembroke Road (odd nos.), Hawtrey Drive, Windmill Hill, Cornwall Road, Denbigh Close, Willow Gardens, Herlwyn Avenue (Nos 2-69).

Area Steward
The area steward is responsible for an Area containing 400-600 households with 12-15 Road Stewards. He or she will distribute bundles of Town Criers to these Road Stewards (3 times a year in February, May & October).  Receipt books and Notes must be issued on collecting subscriptions to the Road Stewards. Subscription monies and copies of receipts are passed on to the Treasurer.

Perhaps the most important facet of this role is to  keep in touch concerning important topics of local interest. The area steward receives a copy of the monthly committee meetings of the Association so has up-to-date knowledge of areas of concern.

Again if this role appeals to you then please get in touch with our Chief Road Steward Brian Cowley see Feedback.. Currently there is a shortage of Area Stewards so Brian has taken on many of these duties himself. Any offers of help will be gratefully received.

Committee Member
Anyone interested in becoming a member of our committee is welcome to come to one of our monthly committee meetings as an observer. For details of the next meeting please contact us see Feedback.
